Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu gave deposition in the August 21, 2004 grenade attack murder case to a Dhaka court as 205 prosecution witness from 10:45am to 12.30pm on Sunday.
Amu said the attack was aimed at killing Awami League (AL) top leaders including then opposition leader and now Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to make the party bankrupt in leadership.
"I myself suffered splinter injuries in the grenade attacks," he said, adding that the target of the attack was killing all the front ranking leaders of the AL.
The grenade attack on the AL rally at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital city on August 21 in 2004 was carried out by the banned Islamist outfit Harkatul Jihad Al Islami, Amu said in the court, according to BSS. -Mithun
