Wanted man dies in crossfire

RAB has claimed that a man, wanted 15 charges, including murder, rape and robbery, has died in what it describes as a ‘shootout’.

Al Amin, 32, who was locally known as ‘Kala Jony’, was shot during an encounter early on Saturday at Dhaka’s Rupnagar, the RAB said.

“A group of young men opened fire when a RAB patrol at the Eastern Housing area asked them to halt,” said RAB-4 chief Lutful Kabir.

The men fled when the RAB retaliated, but one of them was shot, Kabir said, adding a firearm was recovered from the spot.

The injured man was taken to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him dead, according to a news agency. - Idrak
