Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Sunday urged Islamic scholars to keep an intensified vigil against the use of religion by militants.
"Deliver sermons during 'khutbas' (religious lectures) in mosques to motivate people against militancy," he told an anti-militancy rally at Balurmath area of Shyampur in Dhaka.
He also sought the religious leaders' active participation in the campaign against drug abuse disseminating the deadly consequences of drugs.
The minister reiterated his earlier comments about the alleged existence of the foreign Islamist elements like ISIS saying "there is no existence of IS in Bangladesh".
He alleged that the campaign claiming the IS presence in the country was the outcome of a "local and foreign plot", according to BSS. - Idrak
