The BNP and Awami League have been permitted to hold rallies in front of their headquarters on Tuesday, to mark the second anniversary of the tenth national polls.
The BNP sat out that election, because its demand for polls under a neutral caretaker was not accepted. It observes Jan 5 as ‘Murder of Democracy Day’.
The ruling Awami League marks it as ‘Democracy Protection Day’.
Both parties had sought permission to hold rallies at the capital’s Suhrawardy Udyan grounds.
Now they will have to hold rallies on the streets in front of their party headquarters.
Dhaka South City Mayor Sayeed Khokan told a media briefing on Monday that the Awami League will have to hold rally at the Bangabandhu Avenue while the BNP at the Naya Paltan. – bdnews24 reports
