A primary school student was killed and ten other people were injured as a bus ploughed through some roadside shops on the Dhaka-Khulna highway. The incident took place in Surjanagar area of Shibchar upazila on Monday noon.
The deceased was identified as Sazzad Sarder, son of Jahangir Sarder, a resident of Gupterchar village in Sonnashirchar union and a student of class V in Gupterkandi Government Primary School.
Local sources said a Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Emad Paribahan’ lost control over its steering as one of its wheels loosened and ploughed through some roadside shops and hit two siblings standing beside, leaving Sazzad dead on the spot.
At this time, it also hit a human hauler and a sand-leaden truck there.
Ricta Akter, sister of the deceased, was rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital in a critical condition, and ten passengers were admitted to different hospitals, said Pacchor highway police sergeant Arif Khan.
Abul Khayer, superintendent of Shibchar police station, confirmed the incident. – According to a news agency
