Bangladesh Railway will run 28 special trains for the devotees at Biswa Ijtema with beginning on January 8. Moreover, 20 coaches will be added to the inter-city, mail, express and local trains to ensure smooth journey of the Ijtema devotees.
Railways Minister M Mazibul Hoque came up with the disclosure while speaking at a press briefing at the Rail Bhaban on Tuesday.
The minister said all the Dhaka-bound inter-city trains will stop at the 38 mail stoppages at Tongi railway station there for two minutes for five days before the Akheri Munajat of the Biswa Ijtema.
The first phase of the Ijtema is scheduled to be held on January 8-10 while the second one on January 15-17 on the bank of the Turag River in Tongi.
Mazibul Hoque said the railway authorities will run two special trains named ‘Jumma Special’ on Dhaka-Tongi-Dhaka route on the first day of the first phase Ijtema while four special trains will run on Jamalpur and Akhaura routes two days before the Akheri Munajat and one on Laksham-Tongi route one day before the Akheri Munajat.
Besides, 21 trains, including seven special trains, will run Dhaka-Tongi-Dhaka route, seven on Tongi-Dhaka, one on Tongi-Laksam, two on Tongi-Akhaura, four on Tongi-Mymensingh on the day of Akheri Munajat, he said.
Devotees can purchase their tickets from 70 counters in Dhaka stations and 50 in Tongi station, said the minister, according to UNB. - Idrak
