Schoolteacher killed in Cox's Bazar

A schoolteacher was shot to death and his brother injured by miscreants at Mohammad Sharif Para in Ramu upazila of Cox’s Bazar district on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Nurussofa, 29, a teacher of Barobil Government Primary School and a resident of the area, according to a news agency report.

Police said a gang of miscreants entered the house of Nurussofa by breaking open the door while he was sleeping at about 2:00 am.

They opened fire on Nurussofa and hurriedly left the scene, leaving him dead on the spot and his brother Mohammad Nurunnabi injured.

Informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Local people caught one Jasim, 27, on suspicion of the killing and handed over him to police.

Eidgarh police camp assistant sub-inspector Nazrul Islam confirmed the incident.

A case was filed in this connection.
