'Teletalk would be profitable through rebranding process'
The operator to introduce new logo next month
State-owned cellular phone operator Teletalk would introduce new logo in February as part of rebranding process towards turning it into a profitable entity.
“Teletalk will go for rebranding its business case. As part of the process, new logo of the operator would be introduced in February,” State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim said Wednesday.
The state minister made the announcement at a press conference at ministry office that organised for marking two years of the second term of the present Awami League led grand alliance government.
She also hoped the operator would be profitable organisation through the rebranding process.
Teletalk had introduced 3G service nearly one year ahead of private operators, but it had failed to grab the advantages.
To this end, posts and telecommunications division secretary Faizur Rahman Chowdhury told the newsmen that the state-owned operator owns only four per cent of the total investment in the telecommunication sector while the remaining 96 per cent owned by private operators, according to a news agency.
