Three bikers were killed in a road accident at Noyabil in Nalitabari upazila in Sherpur on Friday. Witnesses said a truck rammed a motorcycle carrying three teenagers on Nalitabari-Nakugaon road in the afternoon leaving the bikers dead on the spot. The deceased were identified as Jamal Uddin, 18, son of Abdur Rahim, M Nazrul Islam, 18, son of Alal Uddin, and M Rajon Miah, 19, son of Habibur Rahman, all residents of Charali Bazar in the upazila. Nazrul and Jamal were students of class X while Rajon a student of class IX of Muktijoddha High School.
Sub-inspector of Nalitabari Police Station Arif Hossain said the three teenagers were returning to Nalitabari Bazar by a bike after attending a wedding ceremony.
When they reached Noyabil, a speeding truck, coming form the opposite direction, rammed their two-wheeler and later plunged into a roadside ditch as the driver of the truck lost his control over the steering around 3:30pm, leaving motorcyclist Jamal, Nazrul and Rajon dead on the spot.
Police seized the truck, bút its driver managed to flee from the scene, the SI added, according to a news agency. -Mithun
