Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif on Friday said his party never believes in dismantling any political party. BNP leaders are resorting to falsehood with blaming us for dismantling the 20-party combine, he said.
Hanif was addressing a press conference emerging from a joint meeting on the eve of Homecoming Day of Bangabandhu at the political office of Awami League president Sheikh Hasina at Dhanmondi in the capital.
Hanif said, "BNP leader Major (Retd) Hafiz resorted to falsehood for making his position in his party better. He himself was involved in the conspiracy in breaking of BNP in 2007. The nation must not be fooled by resorting to falsehood as the people are more aware of the history.”
"If any party shifts its policy conveying allegiance towards the spirit of the War of Liberation then the matter can be taken into consideration in course of time," he replied in a question.
AL leaders urged all to transform the public rally to be organised in the city to mark the Homecoming Day of Bangabandhu on January 11 into a human sea. Awami League leaders Advocate Abdul Matin Khosru, Dr Abdur Razzak, Habibur Rahman Siraj, Shahe Alam Murad and National Press Club president M Shafiqur Rahman were, among others, present at meeting, according to BSS. -Mithun
