A station master has been suspended following the derailment of a train in Narsinhdi on Friday night. A four-member committee has also been formed to investigate the incident, Dhaka Divisional Manager Md Arifuzzaman of Bangladesh Railway has confirmed.
A passerby was killed after the engine of Titas Commuter derailed at Singrhagachha around 8:30pm on Friday.
More than 100 passengers were also injured in the panic rush after the derailment.
“Primary investigation suggests the accident happened due to wrong signalling. Narsingdi Railway Station Manager Md Shajahan Mia has been temporarily suspended after the accident,” Arifuzzaman told a news agency. Technical Officer Md Mahbubur Rahman of the railway’s Dhaka division is heading the probe body that is supposed to submit its report within three working days, he added.
