A Sramik League activist, who received injuries during a clash between the activists of Jatiya Party (JP) and Awami League (AL) at Santahar municipality under Adamdighi upazila on Friday afternoon, died on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Sohag Hossain, 26, son of Abdul Khalek of Dogachi area in Noagoan district and an auto-rickshaw driver.

Local sources said, after the municipal polls on December 30, the local AL men alleged that JP supporters did not cast their votes in favour of AL- backed mayoral candidate in the recently held municipality election Rashedul Islam Raja.

Injured Sohag died on way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 10 am.

Police arrested Abul Latif, president of Adamdighi upazila JP and Asharaful Islam, Santahar union parishad chairman and joint secretary of upazila AL in this connection, according to UNB. - Idrak
