WLFSC students, guardians continue protest against tuition fee hike

Students and guardians of Wills Little Flower School and College (WLFSC) in Dhaka on Sunday continued their protest against the increase of tuition and other fees in the academic year 2016.

"We urged the authorities concerned to accept our seven point demands, including not increasing the tuition and other fees for the new academic year. Otherwise, guardians and students will launch a tougher agitation," Shamima Reksona, convener of WLFSC Guardians Forum told journalists at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).

The other demands include: cancellation of special classes for the students by paying an amount equal to the monthly tuition fee, ensuring quality education by appointing skilled teachers and an immediate election of the managing committee with representation of guardians.

"The WLFSC has increased tuition fees by Tk900 to Tk1200 for its Bengali, English version and English medium students, " she said adding the increased tuition fees would be a burden for many guardians.

Earlier, hundreds of students and guardians brought out a procession from the school premises that ended at Dhaka Reporters Unity, according to BSS. - Idrak
