BNP’s split inevitable: Hanif
BNP’s split inevitable: Hanif

Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif on Sunday said the split of BNP is inevitable as people have no confidence in the party.

The ruling party leader said this while addressing an extended meeting of Sramik League’s Bangabandhu Avenue office in the capital. “BNP carried out terrorist acts when it was in power and out of power. So, people have no confidence in the party. Therefore, its split is inevitable,” he said.

Hanif further said, “It’s quite normal that people, having conscience, will quit the party. The chance is little for the party to resist its split. About the allegation of BNP’s acting secretary general Fakhrul Islam Alamgir that the Awami League is conspiring to split the BNP-led alliance, he said Awami League does not believe in splitting any party or alliance.

“Rather, BNP founder Ziaur Rahman had introduced the culture of breaking away political parties. Now many parties are thinking to quit the BNP-led alliance for Khaleda Zia’s wrong decisions and destructive acts,” he added. Hanif observed that it is not possible to carry out development activities and ensure the welfare of people through killing, according to UNB. -Mithun
