Retired banker killed in Rajshahi road crash


A retired banker was killed when a bus knocked down his auto-rickshaw in Bhadra area under Boalia Police Station in Rajshahi on Sunday, police and hospital sources said.



The deceased was identified as Emdadul Haque Sarker, 65, former deputy general manager of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB). His wife Akhtar Jahan is a former MP.



Shahadat Hossain, OC of Boalia Model Police Station, said the accident occurred when Emdadul was returning to his residence riding an auto-rickshaw which was hit by a Dhaka-bound bus around 12.30 pm, leaving him critically injured.



He was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where the attending doctors declared him dead.



Police seized the bus but its driver managed to flee away, according to BSS. - Idrak
