North and south districts units of Chittagong city’s Awami League (AL) and its front organisations celebrated the homecoming day of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a befitting manner on Sunday.
The district AL chalked out elaborate programmes including placing wreaths at Bangabandhu's portraits at all party offices, holding discussions, milad and doa mahfils.
Leaders of different political parties including AL and Chhatra League brought out colourful rallies, placed wreaths at the portrait of the Father of the Nation at the city’s AL office at Darul Fazal market and arranged a discussion on Bangabandhu.
AL leaders joined a discussion meeting on the port city's central Shahid Minar Premises on Sunday afternoon. Former Mayor and President of Chittagong city AL ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury presided over the function while city AL general secretary and city mayor A J M Nasir Uddin, AL leaders Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury, Noimuddin Chowdhury, Advocate Iftekher Saimul Chowdhury, Noman Al Mahmud and Chowdhury Hasan Mahmud Hasni, among others, addressed the function.
Taking part in the discussion, speakers put maximum emphasis on disseminating true national history and the history of the Liberation War among the members of the new generations for building Sonar Bangla as was dreamt by Bangabandhu. The building of Bangabandhu's Sonar Bangla is yet to be finished even after 43 years of Independence and the unfinished task must be completed through united efforts of all people including the young generations, they said.
They also asked for putting their maximum efforts in building a middle income digital Bangladesh through materialising the Vision 2041 as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to realise dreams of Bangabandhu and martyrs of the War of Liberation, according to BSS. - Idrak
