At least seven shops were gutted in a fire in Chittagong's Agrabad commercial area and Kamal Bazar of Patiya Pourshava on Tuesday morning.
The fire gutted five shops at Kamal Bazar of station road area under Patiya municipality at 7am and two shops at Excess road of Agrabad commercial area at 11am on Tuesday.
Fire service sources said both the fire originated from electric short circuit from separate shops and it quickly engulfed the surrounding shops that included a bakery, a hotel, an electronics shop and a pharmacy.
On information, two units of fire fighters from Agrabad and two units of fire service from Patiya Fire Stations rushed to the spots and brought the fire under control.
Valuables worth about Tk500,000 were gutted, fire service sources said adding that no one was, however, injured in the fire, according to BSS. - Idrak
