Joint general secretary of Awami League Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said that the nation does not want lessons of democracy from BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir as both of them were born in cantonment.
Hanif was replying a question on the recent remark of Mirza Fakhrul before attending a fresher's reception organised at Kushtia Medical College on Tuesday. Earlier, Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif inaugurated the CCU of the 250-bed Kushtia Medical College Hospital.
"Going through the past 30 years’ track record of Begum Zia it could be known that she never gets up from bed early in the morning. But, she got up from sleep at 8 am on that day (BDR carnage-February 25, 2009) and left her cantonment residence in a black car for an unknown destination and she remained untraced for two days. Why she went out of her residence and what was the reason for going out and where did she go on that day?" Hanif posed questions.
So, the Awami League leader said, she (Begum Zia) should be put on the dock in accordance with law, if she was found involved in the BDR mutiny of 2009, after carrying investigation.
Acting principal of Kushtia Medical College Hospital Jamal Uddin Mollah chaired the function, was addressed, among others, by Deputy Commissioner of Kushtia Syed Belal Hossain, police super Proloy Chisim, District Awami League general secretary Azgar Ali and Prof Dr SM Mustanzid, head of the Surgery Department, according to BSS. -Mithun
