Speed limit imposed on BD highways during fog

After a spate of road accidents that left scores dead on Bangladesh’s highways, the government says it will impose speed limit during fog.

“Driving at more than 50km per hour in fog would be punishable. This is the decision of the National Road Safety Council adopted at its 28th session,” said Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.

He said maximum speed to be allowed on highways in foggy condition would be 50km per hour.

“But it is better to drive slower, between 40 and 50km per hour in such conditions, Quader said.

The minister said all drivers would have to switch on their fog lights, according to bdnews24.com. – DH
