JS body for G2G-plus system to send workers to Malaysia

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Expatriates’ Welfare and Oversees Employment Ministry suggested on Thursday sending workers to Malaysia under the government-to-government (G2G)-plus system involving private recruiting agencies. It asked the government to take necessary steps for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) over the G2G-plus system to send workers to Malaysia as much as possible. The parliamentary watchdog came up with the recommendation at its 10th meeting, held at the Jatiya Sangsad with its chairman Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun in the chair, said a Parliament Secretariat handout. The G2G-plus system is much like the G2G system, but it additionally offers the inclusion of private recruiting agencies under the Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (Baira) which is absent in the G2G scheme. The committee also suggested bringing all possible migrant workers under insurance coverage and providing assistance from the fund of Wage Earners’ Welfare Board for the education of children of expatriate workers, according to a news agency.
