The railway ministry is contemplating providing free WiFi services on moving trains. Railway Secretary Md Feroz Salah Uddin revealed the plan at the inauguration of WiFi services at Rail Bhaban on Thursday.
“Apart from providing free WiFi at Rail Bhaban, we have begun similar services at several railway stations for the benefit of passengers,” he told journalists.
“We are contemplating an introduction of free WiFi services on trains in future,” he said.
Apart from that, he said, the railway has also introduced ‘e-filing’ or ‘paper-less office work’ on limited scale.
“Paper files are no longer used for leave applications and similar work. This has expedited the clearance of those files,” he said.
Railway Minister Md Mazibul Hoque formally inaugurated the WiFi service at Rail Bhaban on Thursday.
