A two-day book fair on history began on Rajshahi College campus on Friday with the main thrust of creating awareness about country's history among the public in general.
Rajshahi City unit of Bangladesh Itihas Sammilony organised the fair.
Columnist Prof Muntassir Mamoon inaugurated the fair as chief guest with College Inspector of Rajshahi Education Board Prof Dr Anwarul Haque Pramanik in the chair.
Principal of Rajshahi College Prof Habibur Rahman, Principal of Rajshahi Court Degree College Prof Safiqur Rahman Badsha and Prof Mahbubur Rahman and Prof Dr Kamal Hossain were present on the occasion.
Prof Muntassir Mamoon said the young generation should be imbued with the history of Bangladesh's independence properly. He termed youths as pride and driving force of nation and observed that the country's development could be possible through them.
He also said the country's history was distorted repeatedly and those who had involvement in distorting the history were brought under trial.
He called upon all the patriotic and conscious people to come forward so that none could dare to distort the country's War of Liberation history further, according to BSS. - Idrak
